Weekly betting column: Hugill to hit net

The fight game takes centre stage this weekend with a fascinating heavyweight pay per view clash at Wembley.

Just how good is Anthony Joshua? Has Wladimir Klitschko ruled a poor heavyweight scene for too long? We will soon find out the answers to these lingering questions. How we try and make a few quid on the fight as punters is just as tricky. Joshua is a predictably short price to win the fight at only 2/5 with the oddsmakers expecting a changing of the guard come Saturday night. I think the Klitschkos have done their homework this time and I do expect a better performance from Wladimir than the one who rolled over for Tyson Fury. Our own biggest loser on the book is Joshua to win in rounds 1-3 at 6/1, although I am happy enough to take that on. I don’t think he will be in any rush to use his power and the 5/1 on rounds 7-9 looks a better bet to me. The younger fighter hits very hard and the towel could be on its way in for Wladimir should he start taking shots. Watch out for Luke Campbell on the undercard in his biggest fight yet against Darleys Perez. I am backing Luke to get the job done in style with a stoppage which can be backed at even money.

In the football, that last relegation spot is very much up for grabs. I still don’t think our neighbours Burnley are totally safe yet and they can be backed at 20/1 for the drop. They have a tough trip to Crystal Palace this weekend and the 10/11 on Palace looks a banker for me given Burnley’s shocking away record.

Bournemouth look a good price to inflict even more misery to David Moyes’ Sunderland. The Cherries are now playing pressure free after very much a case of job done this season. They lost Jack Wilshere to injury though this didn’t stop them making short work of Middlesbrough last weekend. They look a decent price at 6/4.

I would treble these two up with Stoke to get back to winning ways at home to West Ham. Their home form is generally quite solid with the likes of Shaqiri and Arnautovic causing problems and they look backable at 23/20.

The treble pays 9/1 and looks like a nice bet.
