Organised by MGM Manchester and Harrison Promotions in association with Preston’s former world kickboxing champion Johnney Roye – who is now a respected trainer – the event proved to be a huge success.

Many of the fighters on show are trained by Roye at JR Gym, which is based at Oyston Mill, in Strand Road.

A total of nine bouts took place during the evening and Roye said: “The show was good throughout and I look forward to the next one.

“This was a great way to start for MGM Manchester and we hope to continue bringing top-quality competitive boxing to Preston for many years to come.

“All the fighters on the show gave it their all and they can all be proud of their performances.”

The main event of the evening saw Roye-trained light heavyweight Liam Conroy, who hails from Barrow, face Wakefield-based Pole Krzysztof Golec over eight rounds for the British Challenge Light Heavyweight belt.

It was Conroy who emerged victorious, getting the job done on points by a sizeable margin of 79-74.

He landed the cleaner shots throughout and had Golec rocking in the second and sixth rounds. The resounding victory means he now moves to nine wins and just one defeat from 13 bouts.

Preston-based South African Micheal Ramabeletsa challenged Georgia’s Milhail Soloninkini for the vacant British Challenge Super Bantamweight crown over eight rounds.

The theme of the fight stayed the same throughout, with the South African controlling the range precisely, making sure he was able to evade any counter-punches.

The Georgian attempted to launch a late surge but all to no avail as Ramabeletsa produced a punch-perfect display to win the contest 80-72.

There were also wins for Curtis Valentine, Nathan Brough, Jordan Ellison, Jason Silliet, Ashley Peyton, Adam Hague, Jordan Thompson and Kofi Yates.
