A Christmas full of magic at Lowther Pavilion – oh yes it is pantomime time!

This Christmas, the Lowther Pavilion Theatre & Gardens in Lytham St Annes is inviting audiences to make theatre part of their festive celebrations, with a programme packed with entertainment for all ages.

But at the heart of it all is the much-loved Christmas pantomime – a chance for families to come together, join in the fun and enjoy the kind of traditional festive theatre that has become a highlight of the season.

Beauty and the Beast

Pantomime is Christmas theatre at its most joyful: larger-than-life characters, spectacular moments, plenty of audience participation and jokes that are guaranteed to have children and grown-ups laughing together. Whether you’re a regular panto-goer or introducing the next generation to the tradition, a trip to the Lowther Pavilion Theatre & Gardens is the perfect way to get into the Christmas spirit.

It’s the excuse to get everyone together, dress up for a festive day out, cheer for the heroes, boo the villains and join in with the jokes – even when you’ve heard them before. It’s the shared experience, the laughter and the memories that make a Christmas panto so enduring.

And this family-friendly production pantomime in Lytham is no exception. Bringing together well-known characters including Belle, Philippe, Gaston, and Cheri Trifle for a delightful mix of mischief and mayhem in a tale as timeless as pantomime!

Only true love can break the curse cast upon the Count by an evil witch. But will love truly conquer all – and prove to be more than skin deep?

Audiences can expect plenty of traditional panto fun, audience participation, spectacular scenery and breathtaking special effects.

This truly magical pantomime runs from Mon 30 Nov — Sun 3 Jan 2027. See the website for more details and to book – there are matinees, school-friendly and BSL performances.

And there’s plenty more to enjoy before and after the curtain rises on the panto.

Christmas comes to stage and screen

For those who like their festive entertainment on the big screen, Lowther’s On Screen programme offers plenty of opportunities to settle in and enjoy some seasonal favourites.

Music lovers can experience André Rieu’s 2026 Christmas Concert: Let It Snow, while families can sing along with Frozen. There’s also the chance to revisit some much-loved Christmas classics with screenings of White Christmas and The Muppets Christmas Carol.

And for something with a slightly more mischievous festive feel, Gremlins brings a cult Christmas favourite to Lowther’s Cinema Club.

On stage, the Christmas line-up continues with music and entertainment to suit a range of tastes. Buddy Holly & The Cricketers – Holly At Christmas promises a festive celebration of the rock ‘n’ roll legend, while The Albion Christmas Band brings its distinctive blend of folk and seasonal music to the theatre.

There’s also the chance to get into the festive spirit with ABBA-Merry Christmas, or enjoy an evening of classical music with the Classically Lowther Christmas Special with Thomas Pawson.

So whether your perfect Christmas outing involves a traditional pantomime, a classic film, live music or a spectacular concert, there’s plenty of reason to make Lowther Pavilion part of your festive plans.

Give the gift of entertainment

And if you’re still looking for the perfect Christmas present, Lowther Pavilion offers plenty of ways to give someone an experience rather than simply another present to unwrap.

Lowther gift vouchers make a great choice for theatre lovers, allowing the recipient to choose their own show, performance or even become a Friend of Lowther. Vouchers can be purchased online and delivered by email, or bought in person from the Box Office as a physical gift.

For those who really love live entertainment, a Lowther Supporter membership could be the gift that keeps on giving. Members receive a range of benefits, including discounts on selected shows, priority booking and ticket protection, while helping support the theatre and its ambitious programme.

There’s also the opportunity to give a gift with a lasting legacy through seat sponsorship. Sponsors can choose a seat in the Main House or Chapman Studio and dedicate it to an important person or special moment, with a personal inscription on the back. At the same time, the sponsorship helps support the Lowther Pavilion Theatre & Gardens’ ambitious redevelopment campaign.

So as the festive season approaches, why not make a trip to Lowther Pavilion part of your Christmas tradition?

With pantomime at its heart and a packed programme of film, music and live entertainment around it, Lowther Pavilion is ready to make this Christmas one to remember.
