It is Preston’s oldest shop, located in Cheapside in 1964. This property was once the home of the town surgeon Dr Wortton, who was recorded as residing here in 1684.

During a renovation of the old shop in the mid 1980s, it was found that the supporting timber frame was numbered so it could easily be assembled on site. These type of frames were the origins of the trade term ‘joiner’. It is now a jewellery shop. Email your nostalgic photos and letters to [email protected]
