Heysham Power Station’s role as a major employer and supporter of community organisations is documented in this collection of 47 archive photographs.
The pictures span the decades since the 1980s, when its two reactors began generating power, and show staff both at the station and out in the local community.
Employees have raised thousands of pounds for charities and good causes over the years, while the power plant has welcomed visitors including school pupils and dignitaries.
With two operating power stations, Heysham is the country’s largest generating nuclear site and has played a pivotal role in the Lancaster district.
Our photographers have recorded many of those moments, from fundraising events to visits and everyday life involving the workforce.
Here is a selection of 47 nostalgic pictures uncovered in our archives.
