It’s said that time and tide wait for no man and time has certainly flown since Lancaster district along with the rest of the world celebrated the new millennium.
One local event to mark the year 2000 was the Tide & Time festival, a lottery supported project run alongside the building of Lancaster’s new Millennium Bridge.
As part of his A Little English City project, photographer Dave Clark captured festival events at the Crook O’Lune in July and in Morecambe in August 2000.
The Crook O’Lune event was bathed in sunshine but the weather turned when the festival arrived in Morecambe.
However, it didn’t deter a crowd who enjoyed a procession and some dramatic fireworks over the bay.
A Little English City is still available in Lancaster at Waterstones, the Proper Lovely Shop, Lancaster Maritime Museum and Assembled Books, priced £14.99.
Copies can also be ordered online where all the project’s photographs can be viewed at https://djclark.com/2000/
