The iconic British sitcom ended nearly 10 years ago in 2010, but this Christmas Gavin and Stacey are coming back to our TV screens for a festive special.
This is everything you need to know so you don’t miss the Christmas episode.
What time and which channel is it on?
The Gavin and Stacey Christmas special will air on Christmas Day (Wed 25 Dec) at 8:30pm.
It will be broadcast on the BBC One channel and will last for an hour.
In May of this year, James Corden announced that he and Ruth Jones had written a Christmas special for 2019.
What’s the episode about?
The BBC description of the episode states, “It has been ten years since we last went to Billericay to spend Christmas with the Shipmans and the Wests. This year we’re off to Wales for the Festivities, where Bryn is cooking dinner for over 13 people.
“Understandably he’s tense. Pam would secretly prefer to spend Christmas in Essex, as she finds Gwen’s house a bit lacking. But the deal has always been that they alternate every year, and this time it’s the turn of the Wests to host Christmas with everyone under one small roof.”
The description goes on to say that for titular characters Gavin and Stacey, parenthood poses a number of challenges, with their baby now a ten year old.
It ends by saying, “On Christmas Eve, Dawn makes a shocking discovery about Pete that jeopardizes their marriage (again), and a visit to the pub that night is an eye opener in more ways than one.”
How did the last episode end?
The last episode of the series aired on our TV screens in 2010. It ended with Stacey discovering that she is pregnant and the couple being overjoyed. Smithy gate crashed Nessa and Dave’s wedding ceremony with Neil, pleading for her not to marry him.
Much to everyone’s surprise, Dave agreed that Nessa didn’t love him and the wedding was called off.
The series ended showing Gavin, Stacey, Nessa and Smithy six months later on Barry beachfront, with Stacey being visibly pregnant.
