5 Star Wrestling: Jake Hager crowned champion as Max Money collect tag team belts

Newcastle fans got to see a brand new 5 Star Champion crowned for the second time in the history of 5 Star Wrestling.

Jake Hager shocked the reigning champion John Morrison with a submission victory in the main event of Thursday night’s weekly live TV spectacular on FreeSports.

‘The All-American American’ thus made good on his vow to become the main man in 5 Star Wrestling – albeit with a little help from a disgruntled ‘Liverpool’s Number One’ Zack Gibson.

The bitter Scouser continued his one-man war against the big-name American superstars he claims are only in 5 Star Wrestling for a “payday” and to overshadow the hard-working Brits.

One week after flattening Morrison, Rob Van Dam and Rey Mysterio on his mission to make a name for himself, Gibson also interfered in the Hager-Morrison title match – his attempt to smack Morrison with the title belt distracting ‘The Shaman of Sexy’ long enough so Hager could pounce with his vaunted anklelock.

Morrison tapped out, almost two years to the day since he captured the championship at the very same Metro Radio Arena from AJ Styles.

Gibson had also earlier made Rob Van Dam feel his wrath when he clearly tried to break RVD’s arm at the end of their match, with his Shankly Gates armbar.

Now with Hager as champion, Morrison out for the foreseeable future and Gibson still seething, this Thursday night’s episode of 5 Star Wrestling:LIVE on FreeSports looks to be juicer than ever.

Rampage Brown piledriving Rey Mysterio

You can also see Rey Mysterio go for revenge on Yorkshire hard man Rampage Brown.

Brown left Moose unconscious last Thursday night with a brutal assault, and then ruined Mysterio’s bout with the talented 5 Star Wrestling: Tap or Snap Champion Mark Haskins, attacking and piledriving the Master of the 619, leading to a disqualification win for the masked legend.

Max Money are the first ever 5 Star Tag Team Champions

Adam ‘Flex’ Maxted and Charlie Sterling stunned the Metro Radio Arena in Newcastle when they upended popular high-flyers ‘The Phoenix’ Jody Fleisch and El Ligero to take the belts.

The former ITV Love Island contestant and his cocky partner used their devastating new double-team finisher – dubbed ‘The Flex Account’ – to get the job done.

But ‘Wrestling’s Most Handsome Man’ and ‘Champagne Charlie’ can’t rest on their laurels, because this Thursday in Sheffield their first title defence comes against tough opposition.

Max Money will have to put their money where their mouths are against The UK Hooligans – brothers of WWE superstar Paige – one of the country’s roughest and most dangerous duos.

Catch the action this Thursday night at Fly DSA Arena in Sheffield LIVE on FreeSports from 7pm.
