Four new Preston plans you may want to know about featuring padel courts & a holiday village
Take a deeper dive into four of the more interesting plans submitted in Preston last week..
Earlier this week we shared 13 interesting plans submitted to Preston between Monday, September 5 and Sunday, October 11.
These included the opening of a new fast food chain called on Friargate, which you can read more about here.
Below however we’ve taken a deeper look into five more new plans that may be worth your attention.
Plans for a new car wash

A self storage facility in Preston is hoping to add a car wash to its site.
63-83 Blackpool Road, formerly the Perry’s Car Showroom, is currently used by Cuboid Self Storage for open and container self storage without planning permission.
Last week, they requested a screening opinion to see if an Environmental Impact Assessment is required to use the site for such storage uses plus a proposed new external car wash with valeting/detailing and tyre-fitting operations, together with associated works.
A part retrospective application for the open storage and self-storage containers was refused in March 2026.
This new scheme hopes to address the reasons for that refusal and reflect existing unauthorised uses on site.
Changes at a new holiday retreat

More plans have been submitted involving the redevelopment of the former Goosnargh Golf Club.
Back in 2023, Preston City Council approved the redevelopment of the former golf course on Inglewhite Road to a holiday lodge retreat including 130 holiday lodges, 26 caravan pitches, 14 ancillary office pods, a welcome kiosk, a holiday village facility building featuring a pool and tennis courts, a tourer facility building and associated infrastructure and landscaping.
Goosnargh Lodge Retreat did open the year later but an amendment has now been submitted to allow for a new primary access roadway with consequential amendments to the trigger wording of Conditions 3, 6, 7, 8, 9, and 10
New sixth form build takes another step forward

Preston City Council has received another planning application regarding the erection of a new college building in Preston.
Earlier this year, Preston City Council granted permission for a new part single storey and part two storey sixth form college building to be erected for Cardinal Newman College on land off Herschell Street.
Work has not yet begun but it is looking likely to start soon as more conditions attached to the original planning permission have now been met.
Last week an application was submitted to discharge condition five (Construction Environmental Management Plan), three more having been met last month.
The new building is required due to the college’s increasing student population.
Changes to proposed new padel courts

New plans have been submitted for an already approved padel centre development in Preston.
Over the summer, Preston City Council granted permission for a new community padel club at the University of Lancashire’s Sports Arena.
Developed by Soul Padel in partnership with the university, the development will feature four covered outdoor padel courts and a clubhouse
Last week an application was submitted to amend the original planning permission so that the clubhouse container building and bicycle store could be repositioned.
Whilst still planned for the south east of the site, the clubhouse’ shape and layout has been altered.
