YOUR WEDDINGS: Simon Bentham and Emma Redmond
Teachers tie the knot at fun-filled, magical and perfect wedding day
Gifts full of sentiment and love began Emma Redmond and Simon Bentham’s perfect wedding day.
The groom received a watch set at 1pm from his bride to be with a heart tag scribed with the words, ‘see you at 1’.
Meanwhile, at the bridal party, Emma, 27, who is a trainee teacher, received a hidden message on her iPad with a recorded video from Simon singing one of her favourite songs and playing the guitar for her.
They were married at Mitton Hall in Whalley on June 2 at a beautiful ceremony with lots of personal touches.
Emma’s dad have a PowerPoint speech about his daughter about her life from the day she was born, which was funny and heartfelt.
The two best men had the guests in stitches with tales from Simon’s school days, college and the stag do.
When the groomsmen entered the wedding breakfast to Thin Lizzy’s Boys are Back in Town and the girls to Beyonce’s Run the World, guests were given a sneaky preview to a superb dance off which rounded off an epic finale to the first dance.
The couple’s romance started at Yates Wine Lodge when Simon was working the surf board – which is similar to a bucking bronco – and spotted Emma in her raver’s attire, she was quickly brought straight to the front of the queue.
She said: “Our first date was to the Black Bull and Simon was really nervous.
“What better to happen when you’re on your first date and nervous than your mates walking in.”
Simon, 28, a teacher, pulled out all the stops when he decided to propose.
They went to their favourite restaurant and throughout the evening he kept dropping hints including listening to a special playlist of hits with wedding and marriage theme. When they got home, Simon handed Emma a gift of a book telling the story from start to the proposal.
Simon said: “She turned the last page and there was a picture of a ring box – and she said ‘that’s nice.’ All that effort and she didn’t get it.
“She put the book down and sat back in her chair.
“The penny finally dropped when I got on one knee and she said very romantically ‘course I bloody will you numpty!’
Emma added: “Our day was magical, like a fairytale and my dream had come true. I got to marry the love of my life .
Simon added: “The day was brilliant from start to finish. Emma had created the most perfect setting for us to marry.
“Every aspect had a personal touch and the guests felt welcomed and loved. I am so proud to call Emma my wife and did not want our sensational day to ever end.”
