Roya Armstrong, community fund-raiser at Galloways, said: “Thanks to the generosity of Yorkshire Building Society members we’ve been able to buy new waterproofs and hiking boots which will be loaned out to new members who want to take part in our outdoor activities but don’t have their own kit.

“Technology can make life so much easier for people with sight problems and we’re delighted we’ve also been able to buy specially adapted hardware and software to meet our members’ needs.”

The Charitable Foundation supports registered UK charities that work to improve health, save lives and alleviate poverty with donations of up to £2,000.

Steve Robinson, manager of the Preston branch of Yorkshire Building Society, said: “We’re really proud to be able to support Galloway’s - the work they do transforms the lives of people in our community with sight loss.
