Why the lake at Chorley's Astley Park is being drained today

The lake at Chorley’s Astley Park is being drained today while an investigation takes place into a recent drop in water levels.

A spokesperson for Astley Hall and Park said: “If you’re visiting Astley Park today, you may notice work taking place on the lake.

“We’ve recently identified a drop in water levels and are carrying out an inspection to understand the cause.

“To allow this work to take place, the water level is being carefully lowered in a controlled way. Once the issue has been identified, we’ll move quickly to complete any necessary repairs.

“We’ll share further updates as the work progresses. Thank you for your patience whilst we resolve the issue and restore the lake to its normal level.”
