Your Preston weekend weather forecast: City prepares for strong winds and periods of heavy showers

We are heading for a night of rain which will lead us into a mostly wet and windy weekend, with some dry spells tomorrow, Saturday, March 13.

Preston is set for spells of heavy rain and highs of eight degrees celsius this weekend.

There will be brief dry spells for many this evening across Lancashire before heavy showers approach through the night and temperatures drop to two degrees celsius.

And on Saturday, March 13, showers will begin to ease during the day and there may possibly even be some sunny spells before heavier bursts of rain return in the evening.

These showers are set to continue into Sunday, March 14, with highs of nine degrees celsius.

And early next week the winds will begin easing, followed by cloudy spells with some rain later on Monday and rain and drizzle Tuesday morning, but some sunshine later on in the day.

A brief dry spell for many this evening, before showers approach again, generally heavy through the night, with possible hail, and snow over hills. Winds strengthening, with further coastal gales. Minimum temperature 2 °C.

Showers ease from overnight, though heavier bursts are likely through the afternoon, with snow over hills. Some sunny spells, with strong winds throughout, possible gales. Feeling cold. Maximum temperature 7 °C.

Sunday, March 14 and early next week

Blustery showers and sunny spells Sunday, with snow across higher ground, and winds easing. Cloudy with some rain later on Monday. Rain and drizzle Tuesday morning, but some sunshine later.
