Your 5-day Preston weather forecast: This is how much sun we can expect this week

The recent sunny spring weather was perfectly timed for the reopening of the city's beer gardens and outdoor dining following the grim winter months of lockdown.

But will it last?

According to forecasters at the Met Office we can expect a typical British mix of bright sunshine, cloudy intervals,cool breezes and the odd shower. What did you expect?

Here is a round-up of the forecast for the next five days - from Wednesday morning (April 21) to Sunday evening (April 25).

Wednesday

Wednesday will begin cloudy with a chance of a shower earlier on, but this will clear in the afternoon leaving a dry day with plenty of sunshine around. Breezy and cool with no rain forecast.

Temps will range between a low of 9° in the mornings and a max of 13° between 3pm and 5pm, before returning to 8°-9° later in the evening.

Thursday

High pressure will move in to Lancashire on Thursday, bringing with it an extended period of fine, sunny, dry weather that will last, at least, into the weekend.

The day will see plenty of sunshine from morning to evening, with light winds just keep the temps from rising above 14°. No rain is forecast.

Friday

Friday will be much the same, with sunshine throughout most of the day. There might be a mild breeze that is likely to feel chilly under cloud cover in the evening, but the sky is expected to remain clear for much of the morning and afternoon.

No rain forecast and temps could reach a max of 16° between 3pm and 5pm. But the Met Office warns that overnight frosts are still possible.

Saturday

Saturday is likely to be cooler with patchy cloud expected for much of the day. But there will also be plenty of sunny spells and it will continue to stay dry with no rain forecast.

It is expected to be sunnier in the late afternoon/early evening when we might see temperatures of around 14°.

Sunday

The forecast for Sunday is still subject to change, but the Met Office say we are likely to have more sunny weather with max temps of 15° in the late afternoon.
