Lancashire has been given a snow and ice warning for today as temperatures struggle to get above freezing.

The Met Office issued a yellow warning valid until 6pm tonight.

The temperature in Lancahsiure is forecast to reach only around 2C, with a low of minus 1C.

Today is expected to be largely dry and bright this afternoon for many with some decent spells of sunshine.

It will be cold with the slight chance of a wintry shower on higher ground.

Snowfall may cause tricky travel conditions in places.

Some roads and railways likely to be affected with longer journey times by road, bus and train services

Some injuries are possible from slips and falls on icy surfaces

And there will probably be icy patches on some untreated roads, pavements and cycle paths
