'Mini heatwave' predicted to hit Preston next week

A mini-heatwave has been predicted to hit Preston next week with temperatures climbing to the late teens.

Forecasters at the BBC say it may finally be time to put your big coats and sledges away with temperatures in the area expected to climb to the high teens by Wednesday, April 18.

Residents may be able to enjoy highs of 19º C on Wednesday and Thursday next week, with Preston expected to be as hot as Venice.

Although experts warn that some cloud and breezy weather may remain across the region.

A Met Office forecaster said: "Initially, it will probably be fine and dry, with sunny spells and a reduced chance of rain or showers.

"Temperatures are also likely to be above average for the time of year. "
