Icy roads expected in Lancashire on Monday warns Met Office

Motorists in parts of Lancashire could be waking up to icy roads on Monday bringing some disruption to their morning commute.

The Met Office has issued a Yellow warning for ice for the North West.

It says drivers can expect “some icy patches on some untreated roads, pavements and cycle paths”.

In a statement a spokesman for the national weather service said: Showers are likely to persist over parts of Northern Ireland, west Scotland, northwest England and north Wales overnight.

“These will leave surfaces wet with icy stretches likely to form, particularly on untreated surfaces.

“Some snow is likely to fall over higher routes but any accumulations will be small and only affect a few sites.”
