30-40mm of rain has been predicted to hit the county this week, with areas of higher ground expected to see 50-80mm of rainfall, prompting the Met Office to warn of potential flooding.

The warning, which covers the entire county, is in place from 12pm on Thursday (October 29) until 11.59pm on Friday (October 30).

100-130mm of rainfall has also been predicted in certain areas of the UK, but forecasters say this heavy rainfall will mainly cover the hills and mountains of North West Wales.

A spokesman for the Met Office said: "Periods of heavy rain are expected to develop across Wales and North West England during Thursday and Friday.

"Accumulations of 30-40 mm can be expected widely, whilst areas of higher ground exposed to strong southwesterly winds are likely to see 50-80mm.

"The heaviest rainfall, however, is expected to be across the hills and mountains of North West Wales where 100-130mm of rainfall is possible by the end of Friday."
