Ex-Manchester City players including Peter Barnes, Paul Dickov, Colin Hendry and Uwe Rosler, will be competing against a team made up of Progress Housing Group staff at the grounds of Lancashire Football Association, in Thurston Road, Leyland, on Saturday May 12. Kick off for the Progress Charity Cup is 2pm.
Money from ticket sales will go towards Shelter, who supports people who are homeless or are living in inadequate housing.
Jacqui De-Rose, group chief executive of Progress Housing Group, said: “We are really pleased to be involved in this event. Football is a good way to bring communities together.
“We want to make a difference to people who are at crisis point in terms of housing. Shelter does an incredible job supporting people and helping them get back into secure housing.
“We will have some fun along the way with the football match and I know everyone will put their passion and commitment to the game.”
Peter Barnes, who played for Manchester City from 1972 to 1979 and 1987/8, said: “Shelter is a great cause and we are all looking forward to the game.”
Colin Hendry, who was in the team from 1989 to 1991, said: “I still play for the legends team and for something that is literally on my doorstep and for a worth charity, it is great to get involved.”
