Vincents Lawyer to speak on legacy giving at St Catherine’s Hospice
Lawyer Lisa Lodge will speak at St Catherine’s Hospice Gifts in Wills events, explaining how leaving a gift in your Will can reduce inheritance tax while supporting vital end-of-life care in Chorley, Preston, and South Ribble.
Leaving money to charity in a Will can reduce inheritance tax while supporting a fantastic cause, according to lawyer Lisa Lodge.
She will be speaking at two Gifts in Wills events hosted by St Catherine’s Hospice in Lostock Hall later this month.
The events aim to bring together supporters and members of the local community to see how legacy gifts are used to provide end-of-life care for terminally ill patients and support their families.
Lisa, head of Vincents Solicitors’ private client department, spends much of her time working with charities and organisations across the region to help people understand how the law can support both their families and charitable causes.
She said: “I’m honoured to be asked to speak by St Catherine’s Hospice and to explain how legacy giving can benefit both individuals and charities.
“Leaving a gift to a charity in your Will is an important part of estate planning. It can significantly reduce your inheritance tax bill - for example, just 10 per cent of your estate can bring your IHT bill down by four per cent.
“That way, you’re choosing how your money is spent and doing a great thing at the same time.”
John Rullo, St Catherine’s head of fundraising, will welcome guests to the events on Thursday 22 January and Sunday 25 January, both starting at 2.30pm, ensuring there are options for working people and parents to attend.

Visitors will hear from the hospice’s clinical team about the care they provide and initiatives that help patients, as well as from a family member of a former patient.
John said: “The events celebrate past gifts and show what we’ve been able to achieve with that support.
“They also give people a chance to learn more about leaving a gift in their Will and the process involved.
“We’re delighted to have Lisa Lodge and Vincents Solicitors on board to answer legal questions and explain all the things people need to consider.”
St Catherine’s Hospice provides specialised care to patients and families across Chorley, Preston, and South Ribble affected by life-shortening conditions such as cancer, motor neurone disease, and heart failure.
Their services help people enjoy the best quality of life possible, both at the hospice and in their own homes, and offer bereavement support to the wider community.
The Gifts in Wills events run from 2.30pm to 4.30pm at St Catherine’s Hospice, Lostock Lane.
Attendees are asked to register via the links for Thursday 22 January and Sunday 25 January to receive further information.
