Van fire causes motorway tailbacks

A van fire caused delays on and around the M55 at Kirkham this evening.

Emergency services were called at around 5pm to the roundabout off junction 3, after the driver noticed smoke and flames coming from the vehicle and decided to pull over.

He managed to escape without any injuries, but the van was destroyed.

Firefighters believe the cause was accidental.
