The spokesman said: “After more heavy rainfall last night the river Wyre has had a small breach again and we are now asking people who live in the flood zone to evacuate their homes with their pets. The worst of the rain has passed but we do expect the water levels to be at their highest at around 9.30am. Things should improve after that as the forecast only predicts scattered showers over the next two days.”

The warning also applies to the north of Great Eccleston and the south of Churchtown.
