Two missing after getting into difficulty swimming near St Annes pier

A search has been launched to find two people who got into difficultiers in water near St Annes Pier.

An 18-year-old man and boy aged 16 have not been seen since Saturday evening.

A 15-year-old lad managed to swim to shore and he remains in hospital.

Police were called at just before 6:55pm to a concern for their safety.

This morning, Fylde police said a police helicopter is set to join the search.

Coastguard crews from Lytham, Blackpool, and Southport have joined the search for the two missing males.

A Lancashire Police spokesman said: "Our HM Coastguard and RNLI colleagues searched the water well into the night. They have been able to start looking again this morning and the police helicopter will soon also join the search. We will continue to offer our support.
