A man in his 70s suffered serious injuries after being hit by a car in Preston last night.

The pensioner was taken to Royal Preston Hospital with head, chest, arm and leg injuries after being struck by the VW Golf on Deepdale Road around 9.50pm.

He remains in a serious condition.

The car made off from the scene, but a man and boy who said they were inside the vehicle at the time attended Preston Police Station a short time later.

A 20-year-old man from Preston has been arrested on suspicion of causing serious injury by dangerous driving and failing to stop. A 16-year-old boy who has been arrested on suspicion of causing serious injury by dangerous driving. They both remain in custody at this time.
