Tributes pour in after tragic death of three-year-old Morecambe girl

Tributes have poured in following the tragic death of a three-year-old girl in Morecambe.

Little Chanel Garner died in hospital from serious injuries caused by a stone fire surround falling onto her.

Police and paramedics were called to Euston Grove just after noon on Friday.

Chanel was initially taken to the Royal Lancaster Infirmary before being transferred to Alder Hey Hospital in Liverpool where she died shortly before 7pm.

Police said there are no suspicious circumstances and a file has been passed to the coroner.

Chanel’s mum Dezarelle Kellett, 22, wrote on Facebook: “My beautiful girl love u so much xxxxxxxxxxx”.

And her dad Aaron Garner posted his own tribute, saying: “My beautiful baby girl daddy and mummy will love you always xxxxxxxxxx”.

Dozens of tributes on Facebook have spoken of Chanel as a “beautiful princess”.

Danielle Davies said: “Rip beautiful girl xx” while Annmarie Clarke wrote: “beyond sad..A beautiful angel taken too soon. R.I.P Beautiful Princess..xx”

Kate Miller posted: “So sad. RIP beautiful girl Xx” and Danielle Marie Lea said: “Very heart breaking. Thoughts are with all family. xxx”

Karen Boon said: “Heartbreaking and so sad xxx” while Mandy Carr posted: “So sad and heartbreaking. Thoughts and prayers are with the family. Xx”.

A funding page set up by Andrea Briggs and Chantelle Watson at gofundme.com has raised £2,000 to help the family.

Chantelle wrote on her Facebook page: “Chanel lost her life in the most sudden and unexpexted tragic accident.

“Shock and sorrow has hit her family and everyone who’s even heard about this horrific situation.

“At only three years old as well, she brought smiles and joy to anyone she met and heaven is so so lucky to have her.”
