Trapped cyclist rescued from bandstand in flooded Preston park

A cyclist has been rescued after becoming trapped in flood water in a Preston park.

The biker became stranded under the Miller Park bandstand after swimming there in a bid to evade the rising water of the River Ribble, which flows through the city centre park.

Emergency services were called to the incident as Storm Ciara ravaged Lancashire.

The cyclist is understood to have been under the bandstand roof for some 40 minutes before a firefighter went into the water in a rescue boat.

The cyclist was pulled back to dry land and helped into a waiting ambulance.
