"They have both been taken to Preston Royal Hospital."

The crash involved two cars, one white and the other grey/black, but the models are not known at this stage.

The collision led to the white car mounting the pavement and crashing through a front garden hedge/wall of a detached home in Chorley Road.

Lancashire Fire and Rescue Service (LFRS) also attended the scene.

An LFRS spokesman said: "One fire engine from Chorley and one from Greater Manchester made two vehicles safe following an RTC.

A section of Chorley Road was closed for an hour, with traffic diverted through The Asshawes, whilst emergency services attended the scene.

The road reopened at around 12pm.
