Rush hour Preston to Blackburn rail services cancelled after points failure

UPDATE: Disruption caused by a points failure between Blackburn and Preston has now ended. Services are no longer affected by this problem.

Northern said the disruption had been due to a points failure, leading to some lines being blocked.

Services were restored at around 8.15am.

A spokesman for Northern said: "Train services running through these stations might be cancelled, delayed by up to 40 minutes or revised.

"Disruption is expected until 8.15am and affects routes to Preston."
