Road traffic collision partially blocks A56 near Rawtenstall resulting in heavy congestion
A crash partially blocked a major A-road near Rawtenstall, resulting in long delays in the area.

One lane was closed the A56 northbound between the M66 and the A682 at Rawtenstall following the collision at approximately 4.35pm on Tuesday (August 23).
The collision – which involved two vehicles – partially blocked the carriageway for a number of hours, resulting in heavy congestion in the area.
“Unfortunately one vehicle cannot be towed from the carriageway,” a spokesman for National Highways said.
“Recovery has been arranged.
“Expect delays of 30 minutes on approach.”
