Motorway closures planned for bridge works

WORK gets underway from Monday on the motorway bridge on the M55 at the Broughton Interchange.

The D’Urton Lane bridge, which crosses the M55 between junction 1 and the interchange with the M6 at Junction 32, needs repairs.

Overnight carriageway closures will take place from 9pm to 6am each night from Monday.

The eastbound carriageway closed overnight Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday.

While the westbound carriageway will be closed at the start of next week – Monday August 22, Tuesday August 23 and Wednesday August 25.

Clearly signed diversion routes will be in place during the closures, said a spokesman for Highways England.

Meanwhile the M6 at Junction 34, near Lancaster, will have overnight closures on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday as part of the continuing work on the Heysham link road.
