Highways England said snowy and icy conditions has led to difficult driving conditions on the region's roads and motorways this morning.

On the snow-hit M6 northbound in Cheshire, one lane was shut due to a stranded vehicle between junctions 18 (Holmes Chapel, Chester, Northwich, Middlewich) and 19 (Tabley, A556, Northwich).

The vehicle has since been recovered and all lanes reopened.
