Leyland Tesco Extra shuts its petrol station for next 10 weeks

Tesco has shut its petrol station at its Leyland Extra store this week and it will remain closed for the next 10 weeks.

The filling station at the superstore in Towngate closed on Monday (August 1) and will remain shut until Monday, October 10.

Tesco say the more than two-month closure is to allow ‘maintenance works’ to take place on site.

A Tesco spokesperson said: “We apologise for any inconvenience caused by the temporary closure of our Leyland Extra petrol filling station which is undergoing maintenance works.

"The car wash remains open and the petrol station will reopen in October.”

It added that staff usually based in the petrol filling station will be working in store for the duration of the works.

The supermarket chain has also confirmed that it will open a new Express store in Leyland, near the railway station.
