Heavy traffic building on M65 near Blackburn after carriageway shut in both directions for emergency repairs

An “infrastructure defect” closed the M65 in both directions near Blackburn.

The M65 was closed in both directions within junction 3 (Brimmicroft) at approximately 8.30am on Friday (May 13).

National Highways said this was due to an “infrastructure defect”.

“Structural engineers are carrying out inspections,” a spokesman added.

“Thanks for your patience.”

Congestion was building between junctions 2 (Clayton Brook) and 4 (Earcroft) following the closure.

Delays of around 15 minutes were reported in the area, with average speeds reaching 10mph.
