Nearby D'urton Lane towards Eastway has also been closed due to flooding.

The force says the drains appear to be overwhelmed and Blunder Brook, where surface water runs into, has reached capacity.

Lancashire County Council workers are on site to try and resolve the flooding.

Motorists should then join at the A6 Garstang Road, where bus lane cameras have been switched off to accommodate traffic and ease congestion.

People can then continue along the old A6 past the Marriott hotel where they can rejoin the bypass for the M55.

Police are warning that long delays are already forming along the A6.
