Drug driver arrested after speeding at 100mph on M55 and M6

A drug driver caught speeding along the M55 has been arrested after overtaking a police car near Preston.

Officers patrolling the M55 had been tipped off by colleagues on the M6 who had spotted the Saab reaching speeds of 100mph.

After joining the M55, the westbound Saab driver had continued to speed in the torrential rain, where he overtook traffic officers.

The driver was ordered to pull over by officers and drug tested on the hard shoulder.

The drug driver was pulled over the on M6 near Preston on Sunday afternoon (March 14)

He tested positive for both cannabis and cocaine and was arrested at the scene.

Lancashire Road Police posted pictures and details about the incident on social media.

The post read: "Thanks for the tip off! Reported to have been 100mph on the M6.

"Passed police car 90+ on M55.

The driver tested positive for both cannabis and cocaine at the roadside

"Driver now under arrest after positive samples for cannabis and cocaine."
