Crash on M61 between Chorley and M65 interchange

A crash on the M61 - near the interchange with the M65 at Walton Summit Centre - has led to a lane closure this morning (Wednesday, January 27).

UPDATE: This incident has now cleared

Traffic officers are on the scene whilst the vehicles await recovery. No injuries have been reported at this stage.

The crash happened northbound, close to the interchange, where the M61 junction 9 meets M65 junction 2.

It has led to some congestion on approach to the interchange but Highways say the closure should be lifted by 7.45am.

A Highways spokesman said: "The M61 northbound between junctions 8 (Chorley, A6) and 9 (Brindle, M65) has 1 lane closed due to a collision.

"Traffic Officers are currently at scene and recovery are on their way to the area to assist."
