Lancashire Police said the road is expected to remain closed for some time for recovery and clean up.

A police spokesman said: "Burnley Road is closed both ways due to accident, two lorries involved and a fallen tree between A59 and Howgill Lane (near Todber Valley Holiday Park).

"This road will be closed for some time, please avoid the area."

It is not known at this stage whether anyone has been injured.

Lancashire Police have been approached for more details.
