Rail disruption as trains suspended due 'to obstruction' on tracks

Rail passengers are facing major disruption this afternoon as train services have been suspended.

According to National Rail, Merseyrail services have been cancelled between Ormskirk and Town Green, due to an ‘obstruction on the line’ at Aughton Park.

As a result, services running to Ormskirk will be terminated and started back from Town Green.

The disruption is expected until 4.00pm, with a rail replacement bus has requested to operate between Town Green and Ormskirk in both directions. This bus service is not yet in operation.

In a post on X, a spokesperson for Merseyrail said the ‘obstruction’ is a tree on the tracks.
