Young girl injured after being knocked off her bike

A young girl was injured when she was knocked off her bike by a car as she wobbled into the road, say police.

The nine-year- old girl received head and leg injuries and was taken by ambulance to Royal Albert Edward Infirmary.

Spendmore Lane was closed for a brief period while emergency services dealt with the incident.

A spokesman for Chorley Police said: "Road closed on Spendmore Lane, Coppull after a 9-year-old girl was knocked off her bike when she wobbled into the road.

"The 9 year old received injuries to her leg and head and was taken to hospital by Ambulance crew.

"Thanks to all passers by who stopped to offer assistance including the driver of the vehicle involved.

"The collision could not have been avoided and was a complete accident. Thanks to all drivers for patiently waiting whilst the young girl was treated at the roadside."
