Supersonic American stealth fighters thunder through Lancashire skies as Trump threatens strikes on Iran
American supersonic stealth fighters thundered through the skies above Lancashire last night.
Six F-22 Raptors operated by the US Air Force rumbled over the region at 11.30pm, followed by two enormous Boeing Stratotanker military refuelling planes.

The fleet of fighters boomed over the Fylde coast at around 27,000ft, flying directly over Cleveleys, Poulton and Preston as they made their way back to RAF Lakenheath in Suffolk.
The two Stratotankers took the same route and were tracked returning to nearby RAF Mildenhall. Both airbases are operated by the US Air Force.
The flights were reportedly part of a refuelling training mission taking place over the Atlantic Ocean, with more than 30,000 people tracking the aircraft on Flightradar 24.

The stealth fighters arrived at RAF Lakenheath last week and remained there for several days, reportedly due to issues with the refuelers.
They are reportedly part of the United States' massive build-up of military forces in the Middle East, as President Donald Trump threatens to take further military action against Iran.
