Sinkhole shuts road near University of Lancashire as police urge motorists and pedestrians to steer clear

A road closure is currently in place on Moor Lane, from the junctions of Victoria Street to Appleby Street in the University of Lancashire area, in both directions, due to a sinkhole forming.

National Highways are concerned that the hole may increase in size and pose a danger to road users and pedestrians and so for everyone's safety, police have shut the road.

A spokesperson for Preston Police said: “We can't say at this time how long it'll be closed for, as Highways work to make it passable again, but if you need to travel through this part of Preston, we'd advise looking at an alternate route before setting off.

“We'll keep you updated and let you know once the road is back open.”
