Police car rammed during chase

Police are hunting a driver who rammed a patrol car during a chase through the streets of Preston.

The car, a black Ford Cougar, was pursued by officers after it was spotted with false nunber plates leaving the M6 motorway at Samlesbury at around 3.15pm yesterday.

It was chased up Brockholes Brow, along New Hall Lane and into Skeffington Road, where it is believed the collision took place.

It then continued into Ribbleton and was found abandoned in Hatfield Road, on the Greenlands Estate.

There are not thought to have been any injuries. The driver escaped.

A spokesperson for Lancashire Constabulary said: “We understand the car had been driven from Warwickshire.

“It was spottted at Preston and a pursuit took place. It was bearing false number plates.

“During the pursuit a police car was rammed. The stolen vehicle was later found abandoned on the Greenlands Estate. There were no arrests.

“We would ask anyone who has any information about the incident to get in touch with us.”
