Motorcyclist killed in Bolton crash

A motorcyclist has sadly died in a collision in Bolton, say police.

The accident, which involved a white Ford Fiesta and a a blue Suzuki SV motorcycle, happened at the junction of Crompton Way, Breightmet at around 1.45am on Sunday July 15.

The crash was so severe that the rider of the Suzuki – a man believed to be in his 50s – was sadly pronounced dead at the scene.

Police say the driver of the Fiesta stayed at the scene and no arrests have been made.

Officers are now appealing for witnesses and those with dashcam footage to come forward.

Police Constable Paul Joynson of GMP’s Serious Collision Investigation Unit, said: “In the early hours of this morning, we sadly had to inform a family that their loved one had died and have since been piecing together each bit of information so we can tell them exactly what happened.

“I appreciate there weren’t many people around at that time in the morning but if you were in the area and saw what happened or have dashcam footage that might be of use to us, please get in touch with us.”

The road was closed while officers examined the scene but reopened around 6am.
