Engineers are still on-site between Junctions 32 and 33 northbound, after a crash this morning saw an HGV and car collide shortly before 6am.

The carriageway was closed as emergency services dealt with the aftermath, but police later confirmed there had been no injuries.

Around 4pm today, National Highways reported queues of up to 3 miles long, with 21-minute delays.

The congestion has lessened by now, with Lancashire Police describing traffic as “slow” as one lane remains closed.
