Three kittens were rescued from a fire at a barn in Cumeragh Lane, Whittingham, north of Preston.

Eight crews and a Command Support Unit were mobilised to tackle the flames late afternoon today.

Hay in a barn had caught fire and it had spread to adjacent buildings, say Lancashire Fire and Rescue Service.

Firefighters used water from a pond and a hydrant nearby to feed a hose reel and jet which were used to extinguish the fire.

“Officers have closed Brabiner Lane and the Longridge side of Cumeragh Lane whilst this is managed.
