Delays building on M57 after pile-up involving multiple vehicles

Drivers are being advised to avoid the M57 after a multi-vehicle pile up.

Traffic was held on the motorway on the northbound carriageway at Junction 6 for Kirkby and Liverpool after a crash at about 4.30pm.

Police said there had been a multi-vehicle collision.

Emergency crews began releasing traffic at about 5.15pm, but said that delays would take some time to clear.

Highways England added: "Please allow extra time for your journey as delays are starting to build."
