All the new car parking charges and rules now in force across South Ribble
The borough council says the changes will make car park use fair and help pay for maintenance.
A raft of new rules have come into force for users of almost a dozen council-owned car parks in South Ribble.
Charges have been introduced at some of the facilities and maximum stays at others to ensure what South Ribble Borough Council describes as “fair and controlled use”.
The authority carried out a public consultation into the operation of its 47 parking sites a year ago - and made several changes to the original proposals as result of the responses it received.
The majority of car parks remain unaffected by the new measures - and free periods of parking have been maintained at all those where new arrangements have been introduced, as of 3rd September.

South Ribble Borough Council said last year that it was being forced to act, because it was losing £55,000 a year on the upkeep of the facilities.
Announcing the start of the new system, a spokesperson said: “This change is intended to promote orderly and safe parking within the car parks, support the maintenance and improvement of the facilities and increase turnover of bays to allow more visitors.
“Drivers parking in designated disabled bays must ensure their Blue Badge is clearly displayed at all times to avoid penalties. Parking enforcement will be active…and vehicles found in violation of the new rules may be subject to fines.”
