Accident closes M65 westbound

The collision between a car and a HGV westbound between junctions four and three happened just before 8.30pm.

Highways England said: "The M65 is now closed westbound between J4 and J3 due to a serious collision involving a car and an HGV. Police accident investigation is en-route to scene. Traffic is being diverted via the hollow square diversion symbol."

An ambulance was called to the scene and police accident investigators are continuing their work.

AA Roadwatch said the following diversion was in place: "A666 to the A6062 at Ewood. A6062 westbound to the A674 at Feniscowles. Finally, joining the A674 travelling south to re-join the M65 at J3."
