Everything you need to know ahead of major road surfacing works across Preston, Chorley & South Ribble
Nearly 30 roads across Preston, Chorley and South Ribble are set to be closed for up to six weeks from this Friday.
Later this week, a total of 29 road closures are beginning across Preston, Chorley and South Ribble to allow Lancashire County Council to undertake surface dressing works.
Surface dressing is different to resurfacing as it is work that is carried out to prevent roads from deteriorating.
Each road closure is expected to last around six weeks and below is everything you need to know about the works - including where and when they are taking place as well as why.

Why is the council undertaking this work?
Approached by the Post, a spokesperson for Lancashire County Council said: "Surface dressing is a preventative road maintenance treatment that helps stop roads deteriorating before costly repairs are needed.
"By sealing the surface with a thin layer of bitumen and stone chippings it prevents water getting into the road structure, improves grip and extends the life of the road. It is a proven way of reducing future potholes rather than reacting after damage has occurred.
"Surface dressing can only be carried out during the warmer summer months, which is why work is planned seasonally. Using it at the right time allows us to protect more roads and make the best use of the funding available."
