Tractor pulling competition a big hit
The creme de la creme of tractor pullers met to do battle in Great Eccleston over the weekend.
Among the hotly-contested events taking place were the finals of the British Championships, as well as the European Invitational and North West Euro Challenge Cup. Vehicles from as far as France, Germany, Belgium and Holland were among those to take part.

Hide AdThousands of fans of the rural sport descended on the Great Eccleston showground to catch a glimpse of the action, which saw almost 30 different titles up for grabs over the course of Saturday and yesterday.
The event was organised by theNorth West Tractor Pullers Club (NWTPC).
The organisation was formed in 1978 as an affiliated club of the newly formed British Tractor Pullers Association, following the first tractor pulling events in England and Europe in 1977. The track at Great Eccleston is one of two of NWTPC’s main venues, with the other being at Kirkbride, near Carlisle
